Common Questions About Luxury Canadian Fishing Lodges

If you’ve never had the chance to enjoy a stay at a luxury Canadian fishing lodge, you likely have plenty of questions about what you can expect. Can your kids join you on this bucket-list vacation? Do you need to have fishing experience? Are you going to spend your nights sleeping on an uncomfortable bunk bed?

If you’re thinking about booking your first fishing trip at a British Columbia lodge, keep reading. We’re breaking down some of the most common questions first-time guests have about luxury Canadian fishing lodges.

Do I need to know how to fish?

No! This may not be the case at all luxury Canadian fishing lodges. But you certainly don’t need to be an experienced fisherman to enjoy a visit to Sointula Lodge. In fact, you don’t even need to have ever held a rod and reel!

With just 3 to 4 guests on each boat, everyone can enjoy one-on-one attention from our experienced guides. Whether you want to learn the basics or just need a few tips on reeling in your first salmon, they’ll be there to lend a hand.

Is fishing the only activity to enjoy?

Just as you don’t need to be an experienced fisherman to enjoy a visit to Sointula Lodge, you also don’t have to plan to spend all of your time casting a line.

There is plenty more to do at Sointula Lodge. If you do book an all-inclusive fishing package, you can still spend your evenings exploring the property, relaxing in the hot tub, or taking in a sunset. Want to mix up your days with some time on the water casting a line, as well as sightseeing, hiking, and wildlife watching? Our Wilderness Tour packages are fully customizable so you can choose the activities that interest you and your travel partners. These packages still include all of the luxuries you expect from Sointula Lodge, but with less of a focus on fishing than our more popular package.

Will I be sleeping on a bunk bed?

Many rustic fishing lodges provide shared sleeping quarters. After a long day on the water, you may find yourself sleeping on a small bunk bed in a room full of your fellow travelers. This isn’t the case at luxury Canadian fishing lodges.

At Sointula Lodge, guests enjoy private luxury accommodations. Our cabins feature rustic decor and a variety of layouts to accommodate couples, families, and other groups.

Are kids allowed?

Yes! We welcome families of all shapes and sizes. We even provide discounted rates on our all-inclusive packages for guests ages 12 and under. If you’re looking for a simple way to help your family experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure together, a stay at Sointula Lodge is a great choice.

Can I book a visit to luxury Canadian fishing lodges for a group?

Want to plan the ultimate corporate retreat or family reunion? Why not book our entire lodge?

The Lodge can accommodate up to 18 guests on each trip, which means plenty of room for families of all shapes and sizes and small groups. But if you want an extra-special atmosphere, booking out the entire Lodge might just be the answer. Reach out to our team to learn how we can help you customize the perfect trip.

How far in advance do I need to book my trip?

Our location in remote British Columbia means that our season runs from mid-June to early September each year. With a limited number of dates to choose from, trips often fill up quickly, especially during the busiest travel times.

The best way to guarantee your choice of dates or to ensure space for a larger group is to book your trip as far in advance as possible.

What expenses can I expect when visiting luxury Canadian fishing lodges?

One of the best things about booking luxury Canadian fishing lodges is the chance to relax and unwind during your trip. But if you’re constantly paying for each day’s activities, meals, and other expenses, you might not get the chance to do so.

But at Sointula Lodge, our packages are all-inclusive. From your meals to your fishing gear to processing your fresh catches, everything is included in the cost of your trip. The only additional costs that you’ll need to plan for is transportation to and from the Lodge, your British Columbia fishing license, and tips for staff.
