Experience some of the best fly fishing Canada has to offer. A fly fishing trip on Vancouver Island provides remote, untouched watersheds home to feisty wild Sea-run cutthroat trout, dolly varden, and resident rainbow trout, making for an unforgettable fishing experience in the Great Bear Rainforest. The bountiful surrounding waters and expert guides make Sointula Lodge the premier fly fishing resort for Vancouver Island.

Target huge chinook salmon, hard-fighting coho salmon, and acrobatic pink salmon on the fly with high-tech equipment and insight from our experienced guides. Whether you prefer quick-stripping large clouser patterns through dense kelp patches or buck-tailing herring patterns behind the boat, this proves to be one of the more unique and exhilarating fisheries on the coast.

Like our fishing tours, our fly fishing tours include four- and five-day all-inclusive fishing packages that offer access to remote fishing grounds, premium fish processing, luxury accommodations, and dining, wine, and spirits. Fishing Policy & Limits

British Columbia requires all recreational anglers to have a license, so if you’re planning on fly fishing on Vancouver Island during your stay, you’ll have to purchase a license before. All guests under the age of 16 will need a British Columbia tidal fishing license.

You can purchase a fishing license at the Fishers and Oceans Canada government website in just a few minutes. Make sure to fill in the appropriate dates for your trip and add a salmon stamp.

Guests at our fly fishing resort on Vancouver Island can catch and release or harvest their fish within British Columbia tidal water limits. Your guide will brief you on catch limits, but if you’d like to familiarize yourself before your trip, you can read the British Columbia tidal limits online for area 12.

After your day of fishing, we’ll weigh in your catch for bragging rights. Our team will professionally process your fish while you hit the deck for happy hour.Upon departure from Sointula Lodge, we’ll load all the fish you caught into an isolated box for the ride home. Your fish boxes can be checked as luggage on commercial flights. In the last couple years fish caught at Sointula Lodge have flown as far as France, Norway, Bahrain and Australia!
